Rubye Bonnin: If you aren't used to 'haggling' . Just hand him an envelope with $14000 in it & let'em know that's all you have, tax & all, that's it.
Claude Gloden: Ask them for 14,000. They may then tell you that they cant, so, you tell them 14,500, until they decide less than 15,000. Otherqise, dont hurry up. You may find the same car for less than that in another dealer or pr! ivate seller.
Matt Gerdeman: I would like to purchase a used car either from the state of Kerala or neaby states. Please advise for a good car available and its destination price.
Cecil Derenzi: Look up the book value of the car at kbb.com or edmunds.com. it will tell you the retail value of the car based on milage, condition, make, year model, etc.
Efren Clankscales: get one out of the papper
Robt Betker: This depends on a lot of things. Do you have a trade in? Car dealers are good at giving you a smoking price on the car you are buying, making you think your getting a great buy. All the while giving you practically nothing for the car your trading in. If your not trading anything in, then how much down payment you have comes into play. Every car lot likes cash, and money talks with them. On your $16,000 car with cash I would start my offer at like $11,000, and stop at no more than $12,500. If your buying on credit, maybe about $12,500 would be a! good starting point. Dealers will counter offer at least fiv! e times before they get bored with you, so don't feel like your wasting their time, and don't go to the lot unless you have the time to play the counter offer game. Most important, don't be afraid to walk away from any car you fall in love with. If the deal doesn't feel good, you have no obligation to buy that car, and there are more of them out there, whatever it might be. Many times walking away will get them to give you a last ditch offer, or they may even call you the next day. Good luck!...Show more
